So you all have read a lot about what we do, where we go, and how we get there. But, how many of you know who we are? Ghisallo Cycling is made up of a core group of staff members and volunteers who have dedicated themselves to teaching cycling education, safety, and skills to youth and seniors throughout Austin and San Antonio. Our first staff member to debut to the public is Girmawi James. He is our master Fleet Manager and youth Bike Instructor. We asked to to say a few words about himself:

“Greetings,

My name is Girmawi James. I am a Bike Instructor and Fleet Manager that oversees all the equipment for the programs like performing maintenance on the bikes and getting things like helmets and tools ready for our programs. I moved from Houston to Austin in the Summer of 2011. Graduated Texas State University with BS in Psychology. I’ve been with Ghisallo since 2016 and love everything I do with and for the Initiative. I have many hobbies but my favorite at the moment are fishing, camping, mountain and BMX biking, and mechanic work like working on bikes, cars, or home improvement.”

No destination is too far when riding bikes! Girmawi took his students from the East side of Austin to the Pedestrian Bridge near Lamar.

Never a dull moment at the bike shop. Did you know that your apron prevents you from getting grease on your clothes AND can hold an adorable puppy?

Bicycle Skills Challenge course set and ready to ride! Girmawi always demos the course to make sure it’s roll ready!
