We had a blast last weekend at Langford Elementary’s first End of the Month Bike Ride of the year. We got extra lucky with the weather as the sun showed up nice and bright after an all-night downpour. Almost three months ago, we kicked off the very first Bicycle Lending Library at Langford Elementary and this past Sunday we were very excited to see some of those riders roll in on their Lending Library bikes. We had some Langford friends join on their own bikes and others borrow bikes and helmets for the morning.

The first one ready and excited to ride!

Thanks to many gracious volunteers, we had a bike tune-up station and more than enough adult riders to head out on a neighborhood group ride. After fixing up bikes, fitting helmets and doing a bike safety review we made our way down to a park on the Onion Creek Greenbelt.

A beautiful Sunday morning sun shining on the Langford garden: a yellow Ofo bike for adults to borrow, a Langford mom on an adult tricycle, students getting ready and the bike tune-up station.

We had all kinds of bike riders join us: kids in the backseat of their parent’s bike, parents who hadn’t been on a bike in over 10 years and a rider who races bikes every weekend. On our way back to school we quickly realized it was going to be uphill the whole way but we made it!

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible! We are already looking forward to next month’s ride!
