Three Mendez Middle School students & Lead Instructor Will Rogers III rode to the Onion Creek playground with ease. They are getting faster at completing trips that used to take a third of the class. Their regular attendance every week definitely makes a difference in their riding proficiency.

Sergio, a sixth grader, worked on earning the hand signals badge & Orlando & Gabriel earned the Level 2 Nutrition badge through discussion on what kinds of foods would be healthy, economical and wise choices during a bike ride like a banana or a granola bar and what foods would be unwise like a hamburger, candy or an omelet. The students also worked on learning how to use the front chain ring group when riding up hills, a needed skill when you ride in the South Pleasant Valley neighborhoods.

Later we constructed the beginnings of a rock bridge in the creek before heading home. The students are very excited to ride each week with the two instructors at Mendez. We look forward to a great semester with them!
