Job Description

The Austin Team Lead will be responsible for the overseeing day-to-day Austin operations of Ghisallo, including program management, staff oversight, and partner communications. Working closely with the Executive Director, the role will steward the relationships with local stakeholders and provide leadership and guidance for all programmatic divisions, special projects, and events. Responsibilities included program management and implementation, grant management, reporting, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong relationship building and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a diverse group of stakeholders, strong organizational skills and give high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple ongoing programs and prioritize tasks.

 

Responsibilities

Program Management & Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate City Cyclist rides and clinics with community partners

  • Support Cycle Academy lead with youth program scheduling and coordination 

  • Support Golden Rollers lead with senior scheduling and coordination 

  • Communicate regularly with clients, partners, funders, and volunteers

  • Maintain and expand relationships with community partners, primarily AISD and CoA PARD

  • Manage program and event sign-ups and client participation and communication 

  • Ensure staffing, equipment, and materials for programming

  • Develop programs and trainings

 

Administrative / Operations / Grant Management

  • Supervise 4 Austin staff, on-the-ground support with tasks, projects, work plans, logistics, and communications to ensure smooth operations

  • Review staff timesheets, review mileage, monitor staff schedules and PTO(VAC/SL) requests

  • Grant management and monthly reporting

  • Coordinate staff meetings, prepare agendas

  • Work closely with ED and SA team lead, strategic/organizational planning and execution

  • Grant research and applications

  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports and StoryMaps

  • Update website and write blog posts

  • Implement strategic plans and initiate projects

 

Community Educator & Instructor

  • Lead Cycle Academy youth Bike Clubs, BikeStart, Bicycle Skills Challenges, community rides

  • Lead City Cyclist community rides and clinics

  • Lead Golden Rollers Trike Clubs

  • Create and give presentations

  • Coordinate program-related public events and and special projects including Bike Builds, Trick or Treat on Trail, and Wheelie Good Snack Packs

  • Represent Ghisallo at public events, in meetings, and in general communications

 

Required Qualifications

  • Enthusiasm for Ghisallo’s mission, and excited to get more people on bikes, especially youth and their families

  • Comfortable and confident riding a bicycle on roads (interacting with vehicular traffic), trails, and sidewalks

  • Experience managing others in a professional setting, experience implementing programs 

  • Clear and professional written and oral communication skills, including writing and editing

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple ongoing programs and prioritize tasks

  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a diverse group of stakeholders

  • Empathetic, active listener, cultural competency

  • Ability to work at a range of geographically distributed program sites across the greater Austin area

  • Comfortable working outdoors and moving bicycles and equipment (repetitive motions, up to 40lbs)

  • Available evenings and weekends to staff events as needed

  • Comfortable with public speaking, leading groups of people, and possibly appearing on TV or radio

  • Familiar with Gmail, Google Cal, Google Docs, Google Sheets

  • Self-starter who enjoys building systems and working as a part of small team

  • Experienced in riding bicycles in Austin for transportation and/or recreation

  • Can pass a Federal (fingerprint based) Background Check related to working with youth and vulnerable populations

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid Texas driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check required (no more than 2 minor violations, and no major violations, in past 3 years)

 

Additional Qualifications (not required, but desired)

  • Previous experience working with children in any capacity

  • Conversational Spanish language competency

  • Cultural competency as it relates to our prospective clients and Austin

  • Experience towing basic cargo trailers (10’-20’)

  • Experience tuning and repairing bicycles, basic bicycle maintenance skills

  • Demonstrated leadership experience – leading teams, group rides, and community events

 

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $50,000+
